Many customers will confuse sintered stone with porcelain tile, today we will take about the difference between these two products. Both Porcelains and Sintered Stones are heated (sintered). But there are many differences between the sintered stone slab and porcelain tile.

1. Raw Materials:

Sintered stone slab is composed of the natural inorganic materials, such as inorganic clay, kaolin, feldspar powder; Porcelain tile is mostly composed of clay and quartz sand.

2. Process:

Sintered stone is made of natural materials through a special process. It integrates multiple top technologies and selects high-quality materials. After 33000 tons of press molding, multi-channel inkjet engraving, and firing at above 1280℃ temperature; porcelain tile is a refractory metal oxide and semi-metal oxide, through grinding, mixing, pressing (much less than the pressure of the sintered stone slab), glazing, and heating process.

3. The calcination temperature:

The calcination temperature of the sintered stone slab is 1280℃ or above to achieve grade A fire resistance and food-grade surface; the calcination temperature of large porcelain tile is about 1000℃.

4. Size:

The product of a size larger than 1200mm wide and 2400mm long can be sintered stone. The product of the size smaller than that can be called ceramic tile. A sintered stone slab can be a large size which is 1600mm wide and 3200mm long; ceramic tile usually can not be as large as more than 1000mm long.

5. Thickness:

Sintered stone has a varying thickness, including 3mm, 6mm, 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, and even 20mm; the thickness of porcelain tile is normally from 7mm to 12mm.

6. Application:

The use scope of the sintered stone slab is relatively wide. It can be used whether for large spaces or home decoration; porcelain tile is generally used for wall decoration or flooring.

7. Features:

Sintered Stone slab has better resistance to stains, impacts, heat, and chemicals compared with porcelain tile.

No matter how you judge the above two kinds of materials, they are different. The differences make the sintered stone have wider application and brighter future.
