Phase II of the National Convention Centre is located in the central area of the Olympic Park in Chaoyang District, Beijing, close to Beijing National Stadium (Bird’s Nest/Olympic Stadium) and National Swimming Center. With a total construction area of about 410,000 square meters, the China National Convention Center Phase II has become the largest single building under construction in Beijing. The China National Convention Center Phase II is integrated with Phase I to form an exhibition complex with a total scale of 1.3 million square meters.
The second phase of the National Convention Center will be used by the Organizing Committee of the Winter Olympic Games, and it will have the function of the main media center (MMC) during the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games, and will also provide full services for the global media.

The project was designed by Portzampark, a famous French architect and the winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize, and consultant of Afa Architectural Design Consulting Ltd (RFR). The whole building boasts a concave curved façade, and above the building is a huge reception canopy. The consistent curvature unifies the whole façade, while the overall shape gives this great building a sense of elegance and solemnity.

Lingbiao sintered stone designed a new beige sintered stone color for Phase II of the National Convention Centre, using as wall cladding panels in the lobby and hall. When used as wall cladding, sintered stones protect high-traffic areas from damage while also providing an exceptional aesthetic to the space.
With the wide array of textures, colors, and finishes, and lightweight construction, sintered stones slabs can do be a good decoration material for the inner and outer spaces of different scenes. What’s more importantly, due to their thin design, sintered stones slabs are just as functional as they are beautiful.
